Alex Chaucer, FMCC-SITC professor and Linda Rockwood, MVGIS, spent a week in July with 14 energetic junior high and high school age campers, exploring hands-on activities incorporating GPS, GIS and remote sensing technologies.

* racing through a GPS scavenger hunt

* planning a GPS data collection project and marking points on campus

* basic GIS map making skills

* creating a 3-D image of campus

* making 3-D movies

* using antique stereoscopes

* taking stereoscopic photos of each other

* launching rockets with cameras onboard

* visiting the county airport to learn about GPS applications
